THE CHALLENGE
A manufacturer producing a range of products including specialized vacuum technology parts used in the semiconductor equipment industry was having problems with their metalworking fluid. Operating Mazak 40-taper vertical milling machines, the company was experiencing significantly reduced tool life and low productivity as the coolant was unable to keep up with the demands of the operations. To compensate, they were compelled to run the coolant at unusually high concentrations in order to achieve acceptable machining performance.
